The Secure Tradies Payments Proof of Concept (PoC) was developed to demonstrate how Securely’s trusted identity and payment infrastructure could address a significant challenge within the Australian trade services industry: ensuring that customers and tradespeople can transact with confidence.

The PoC was implemented through Cough-Up, a PayTech platform designed specifically for the trades industry. Cough-Up provides a secure environment where a tradie can submit a quote and agree payment terms with a customer. Once the work is approved, the customer deposits the agreed project funds into a secure escrow environment. The funds remain protected until the agreed work is completed, at which point payment is released to the tradie.

Securely provides the underlying trust layer supporting this model. The use case demonstrates how verified identities, trusted parties and secure transaction processes can be brought together to reduce payment risk and provide greater confidence to both sides of a transaction.

The PoC was specifically created to prove that secure, identity-driven payments are not only technically feasible but can be applied to a practical, high-volume Australian use case. It establishes a foundation for extending the model into other trust-critical transactions where customers, businesses and service providers need confidence that the person they are dealing with is genuine, authorised and able to transact securely.

Use Case - Secure Online Marketplace Payments
Online Marketplace Payments

The Secure Online Marketplace Payments Proof of Concept (PoC) was developed to demonstrate how Securely can bring trust and security to peer-to-peer transactions conducted through online marketplaces such as Facebook Marketplace and Gumtree.

The PoC was implemented through Pay Ewe, a payment platform designed to protect buyers and sellers by securely holding funds in escrow until an agreed transaction has been completed. A buyer can initiate a transaction with a seller, with the agreed funds deposited into a secure account rather than being transferred directly to an unknown party. Once the goods have been delivered and the transaction confirmed, the funds are released to the seller.

A key objective of the PoC was to demonstrate that the identity of participants in an online marketplace transaction could be securely established and linked to their payment activity. Securely provides the trust layer that enables participants to be identified and authenticated, helping establish that the person behind a digital interaction is genuinely the person they claim to be. This aligns with Securely’s broader objective of binding verified identity to digital platforms and payments.

The PoC proved that secure, identity-driven payments can be integrated into existing online marketplace experiences without requiring the marketplace itself to become the payment intermediary. It demonstrated a practical model for reducing scams, protecting both parties and creating greater accountability in Australia’s rapidly growing peer-to-peer digital commerce environment.

Use Case - Secure Online Dating & Identity Verification
Dating & Identity Verification

The Secure Online Dating Proof of Concept (PoC) was developed to demonstrate how Securely can bring bank-grade identity assurance to online dating, addressing one of the most significant weaknesses of traditional dating platforms: the inability to confidently establish who is actually behind an online profile.

The PoC was implemented through Find-a-Husband, a dating platform designed around safety, authenticity and genuine connections. Securely provides the underlying identity trust layer, enabling a user's digital dating profile to be associated with a verified identity derived from a trusted, bank-grade source. Importantly, this approach allows the platform to establish confidence in the identity of a participant without requiring users to rely solely on self-declared information, social profiles or uploaded identity documents.

The PoC was created to prove that bank-grade identity verification can be applied to online dating and that existing banking identity infrastructure can be securely leveraged to establish trust between people interacting online. By binding a digital identity to a verified real-world identity, the model significantly reduces the opportunity for catfishing, impersonation and identity-based scams.

The use case demonstrates Securely's broader proposition: transforming anonymous online interactions into trusted, accountable relationships by making verified identity an integral part of the digital platform rather than an afterthought.
